The software manual gives you the minimum requirements needed for your PC, along with basic setup instructions. It also includes examples that you need to maximize all the features that our software has to offer to make your show flexible, exciting and most importantly, safe. The manual also provides you with detailed explanations of how to upgrade the firmware programmed in your server.
2. The SERVER Firmware update for all systems puchased prior to July 2001.
The firmware is the code that is programmed in the server hardware in order for the server software on your PC to communicate with the server. Older firmwares in your server may need to be updated if you are planning on using a later version of the server software.
The firmware determines how fast the data is transferred between the server and your PC. Many of the servers in the field today have the firmware that transfers data at 100ms, which is fine if they are using an older version of the server software. Version 2.09 server software requires the data to be transferred at a higher rate of speed since computers are much faster now than they were in the late 90's. The latest firmware transfers data at 250ms.
3. Do you know what version of firmware is installed in your SERVER?
To check, you will need to use the download/debug cable that came with the units. Each SERVER has a download and a debug port on the rear panel. With the SERVER off, connect the cable from your PC to the SERVER's debug port. Open the HyperTerminal application so you can connect to the SERVER. Turn the SERVER on. The HyperTerminal application should now display a banner stating which version of Firmware is installed on your SERVER. Go to the bottom of the banner and the transfer rate will be displayed.

The motor simulator software is used to simulate the server and the motor controller systems. Its main purpose is to give customers the opportunity to create show files and actually simulate motor movements without actually having anything hooked up. In order to do this you would need to have it up and running in the background while you run your show files using the server software. |
